Celebrating its 28th year, this annual festival is a combination of free entertainment on two stages, a family friendly area with a children’s stage, rides for kids under twelve, 40 booths of interactive educational fun that encourages stewardship of the Chesapeake Bay, 100 Arts & Crafts booths, 35 food vendors, and one of the longest fireworks displays in the area.

Join the U.S. Navy in celebrating our nation’s freedom and 100 years of powered flight with the award-winning air show at the Naval Air Station Oceana. Enjoy thrilling aerobatics from the world’s finest civilian performers, as well as the heavy metal of the U.S. military including Top Gun’s F-14 Tomcat and F/A-18 Hornet, not to mention breathtaking performances by the U.S. Navy Blue Angels.

A boisterous and beloved send off to summer, the Neptune Festival offers everything from wine tasting and world-class sandcastle competition to arts and crafts along the boardwalk, and the famous Neptune Parade.

Now in its 37th year, this is one of Southeast Virginia’s biggest traditional craft shows, with over 200 vendors. Enjoy the sounds, sights and memories that have been carefully passed from generation to generation. The festival includes craft and trade demonstrations, children’s activities, food vendors and continuous entertainment on four stages.$5 parking fee per vehicle; food and beverages for sale.

Over 250 animated nautical and holiday themed light displays along the boardwalk! Festive fish, jumping dolphins, frolicking porpoises-all illuminated by thousands of tiny bright colored lights. Sailboats gently rocking in the wind and mermaids calling to “landlubbers,” complete the 31 blocks of nautical themed for this unique light display. Tour includes a complimentary DVD with special Christmas music.

Light up your holidays with the award-winning Celebration in Lights, a two-mile drive-through of spectacular animated scenes set in Newport News Park. Over 700,000 lights illuminate the beauty of Newport News Park’s forests, fields, and ponds in this, Virginia’s longest running drive-through light event. View multi-colored snowflakes, leaping reindeer, whimsical toys, forest animals, elegant swans and scenes from Virginia’s past portrayed in a kaleidoscope of dazzling color. Over 200 displays, including 70 animated displays, are spread throughout a dozen theme areas, including “Winter Wonderland,” “Forest Friends,” “Battle of the Ironclads,” “Santa’s Enchanted Kingdom” and “Old Man Winter.” $10 per car; $50 per bus.

The Coleman Garden Nursery Yuletide displays began in the mid-1960s when owner, A. J. “Junie” Lancaster was inspired by the animated Disneyland exhibit at the New York World’s Fair. Coleman’s first figure was a sleeping Santa. Over the years, several hundred figures were added. Visit the Courthouse Galleries and share the holiday attraction with family and friends. Guests step back in time to enjoy the wonder and elegance of a mid-19th century Christmas. Lee Hall is replete with all of the finery and decor which a gentleman farmer and his family could provide. Experience the holidays as Richard D. Lee and his family did prior to the American Civil War. Tour the mansion and the unique 1862 Peninsula Campaign Gallery which houses artifacts from the campaign. The Virginia Arts Festival and BeachEvents combine forces to present a musical celebration that features a steel drum band competition combined with performances by some of the country’s best “pan” virtuosos. Groove to Caribbean, Latin and pop music during the festival’s steel band competition. Bands from throughout the United States, both high school and college, compete on Friday and Saturday. Nearly 300 fine artists and craftsmen and world-class contemporary performing artists will convene on the Virginia Beach boardwalk for one of the best and most popular outdoor fine arts festivals in the country.
