Military Aviation Museum Now Open! Virginia Beach, Pungo Preserving history through the display and flight of World War II aircraft! Space Quest - Exploring the Moon, Mars & Beyond Now Open! Hampton, The Virginia Air & Space Center The Virginia Air & Space Center 's new Space Gallery will capture the excitement of exploring space through interactive exhibits that focus on NASA technologies and space science. This $9 million gallery combines actual artifacts with state-of-the-art hands-on exhibits, covering numerous topics, including our Solar System, the Moon and Mars, Human and un-crewed space exploration, living and working in space, coming home and weather from space. Travel to Mars in the Mars Transport Theater, gaze at the Solar System, make a crater, participate in rover races, and land on the Moon. Come face-to-face with an actual moon rock and mars meteorite. A Christmas Carol 3D in IMAX opens! November 6 thru December 31, 2009 An animated retelling of Charles Dickens' classic novel, A Christmas Carol, about a Victorian-era miser taken on a journey of self-redemption, courtesy of several mysterious Christmas apparitions. Celebration in Lights November 26 - January 1, 5:30 p.m. - 10 p.m. Newport News, Newport News Park Light up your holidays with the award-winning Celebration in Lights, a two-mile drive-through of spectacular animated scenes set in Newport News Park. Over 700,000 lights illuminate the beauty of Newport News Park’s forests, fields, and ponds in this, Virginia’s longest running drive-through light event. Real Pirates: The Untold Story of the Whydah from Slave Ship to Pirate Ship November 21, 2009 - April 4, 2010 Nauticus, Norfolk, VA The slave ship Whydah began her short life in London, England, in 1715. Less than two years later, now a pirate ship, she sank to the ocean floor off Cape Cod. Using artifacts recovered from the wreck, "Real Pirates: The Untold Story of the Whydah from Slave Ship to Pirate Ship" reveals the true story behind this vessel.
